10 Steps to Having a hard conversation

Now more than ever we are seeing education professionals struggle, make choices that contribute to the problem and avoid addressing the key things that are getting in the way of success.  We must be willing to have hard conversations with each other and hold each other accountable to a standard that supports not only the success of our students but of each other. This is not easy to do and we must begin to have these conversations. If this rings true for you, join award winning author, Kristin Souers, for a session that walks you through the steps to how we can approach hard conversations.  Jumping into conversation without intentionally ensuring we have done key things before will guarantee that what we are doing simply won’t work.  While the course has 10 steps, keep in mind many of these steps are being done throughout the conversation and can be revisited if necessary to ensure a positive outcome.

Course Objectives:

  •   Attendees will learn ways to prepare for hard conversations

  • Attendees will learn the healthy steps to take in having hard conversations to hopefully ensure a positive outcome.

This course is chalk full of information so it would be good to have a resource to jot down notes and takeaways.  Kristin also offers sentence stems and examples of things you can say throughout the course to help you.

Also, at the end of each module are knowledge check questions for attendees to answer to ensure that learning did occur.  Attendees must get an 80% on each test in order to move onto the next section. Once the course has been completed, attendees can download a certificate of completion.

As a bonus, Kristin provided you with two handouts that you can download to help you in preparing for your future hard conversations.
